I missed out on a lot of “classic” movies growing up. My parents didn’t really speak English, there were a limited amount of TVs in the house, etc. Once my co-workers realized that I wasn’t getting their Minority Report or ET references, they decided to start a list for me. Below is part of the list (the actual list is really long so I prioritized the ones that were suggested the most).
Best guess: An alien wants to call his house.
The Fifth Element (1997)
Best guess: Bruce Willis drives around in space.
Saving Private Ryan (1998)
Best guess: An attempt to save Private Ryan is made.
O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) WATCHED
Best guess: Clooney and friends escape from jail.
The Stepford Wives (1975)
Best guess: A bunch of wives go on a killing spree.
Minority Report (2002)
Best guess: Tom Cruise uses a lot of high tech screens.
Office Space (1999)
Best guess: The mundane life of a corporate employee (AKA the original version of the Office).
The Godfather (1971)
Best guess: A mobster becomes someone’s Godfather and paves the way for The Sopranos (haven’t seen that).
Star Wars (1977)
Best guess: An entire series of movies that I’m supposed to watch in episode order…whatever that means.
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Best guess: John Travolta creates one of the best GIFs of all time.
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Best guess: An epic drama of adventure and exploration?
Best guess: The Birds (which I did see), but with a shark.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
Best guess: The butler from Clue (which I did see) in his own movie before he toned down his look.
Top Gun (1986)
Best guess: Tom Cruise becomes the best pilot ever and saves the world.
Out of Sight (1998)
Best guess: Clooney and J.Lo try to make a James Bond movie.
The First Wives Club (1996)
Best guess: 3 of Hollywood’s favorite women get revenge on their ex-husbands.
Best guess: Two people fall in love in a white house.
The Wizard of Oz (1939)
Best guess: A girl defeats a wizard and now we have The Wiz (which I did see) & Wicked (also saw).
The Big Lebowski (1998)
Best guess: Two people fall for each other thanks to their mutual love of bowling.
